Is it the light of the sun that makes the moon beautiful?
How it illuminates its mystery and gives the world a chance to gaze upon its quiet radiance.
Yet, the sun can only grasp one side of the moon in a moment.
Never knowing it in its fullness, complete, nothing undisclosed.
Does the sun ever crave the dark side of the moon?
Things the moon conceals, pieces of it unknown, parts hidden.
Despite the sun’s persistence, the moon carefully spins, always keeping its distance.
Maybe it is fleeing the over exposure, shielding itself, protecting the parts most precious.
I am not unlike the moon?
Only allowing the light to shine on the parts of me that might emanate a kind of beauty.
And isn’t that ok, for a time.
To stay in orbit, permit the sun to shine on me in part, while I care for the parts that are precious, kept hidden.
So, for now, I will be like the moon.
