"Raw and unrefined- where my brokenness meets His goodness"

Venture On

I am on a ship in the night

Abandoned

Those who promised to stay could not brave the darkness

So, I travel alone

The night my only companion

The glimpse of horizon passes through my memory

Like a forgotten fairytale

So many would have turned back by now

But I venture on

……….

I hear a crash of waves in the distance

And a promise of a silhouette

A voyager at sea with me

Yet I cannot see you

Do you seek the same thing I do?

Everlasting light in the soul of night

The nearness of you is familiar

My heart quickens

Do I brave the seas to reach you?

Do I abandon all I have known to search for you?

Besides, what is it to find the light if I find it alone?

……….

I jump into the waves

Abandon my lonely vessel

The waves crash over me, stealing my breath

Still, I venture on

I’m pushed and pulled into the deep

Still, I venture on

Darkness envelopes the space around

Still, I venture on

………

Finally, the waves take me

I’m falling deeper and deeper

In the dark, I reach for you, search for you

Have you abandoned me too?

Were you ever truly there at all?

Just before my heart sings its last goodbye, I find you

You are in the deep with me

We find each other in the dead of night

I know now that even if the sea overtakes us, it is better to go down together

Besides, what is it to find the light if we find it alone
